Hi

Please excuse me for sending this e-mail to you, but I wasn't able to access the 'Contact Us' part of the History page. I noticed a request on your great site (this has been my first visit) for family pictures of the 'People and Places of Shap' and 'Wedding Snaps'. As I live in Western Australia, I'm not able to phone the ladies mentioned (Jean Jackson and Liz Amos) and thought I might e-mail them instead. Are you able to forward this e-mail to the relevant members of the History group or the Heritage Centre?

My great-grandparents were married in St Michaels Church in Shap. I've never visited your part of the world, but the website is great and it is nice to get a feel for your town. I'm attaching photographs of my ancestors - they are Frederick DENT and Florence INNOCENT. Frederick was born in Edenhall and Florence in Ecclesall Bierlow. I think they may have met when they were both in service in manor houses in Wales, but their last known whereabouts before coming to Australia in 1911, was Shap, where they were married in 1907 and Penrith where my grandfather was born in 1909. The pictures are web resolution only, but hopefully the history folks will enjoy them.

Wow - what a speedy reply! Feel free to pop my letter in the site - I'd love to see if anyone knows more about my family and their Shap connection. Good luck with it all.
