A host of Angels at Shap.
There was a host of angels adorning the gardens of Shap on Sunday
when a Gardening Angels Day was organised by members of St. Michael’s
church.
Over 30 gardens throughout the length and breadth
of the village were open to the public and of those 25 had angels
on display. The angels varied greatly in interpretation, from flat
examples attached to walls to real characters. Refreshments were
served at the Hermitage and the Vicarage, and the public were invited
to vote for their favourite angel and best garden. At Rose Cottage,
Ann Dixon had set up a table with angels enjoying tea in the shade,
and this was voted the winning entry; whilst the Derwent House
garden, the work of David and Janet Mallinson was voted to be the
best garden. The event raised around £250
for the church repair fund
