Hi My name is Ann Illingworth,my family and I used to live at Old Shap Wells in the 60s 3 of my kids were born there. So in August my daughter and family from America and myself from Cyprus are coming on a memorial trip as she wants to show her sons where she was born and grew up so I hope there will be a few people who will remember us. Especially Doreen Lee who delivered them all, have already heard from Geoff Potter, who else is there?
can you put some pictures of the school and other shops on please?
Hi Lauren,
Thanks for the comment.
We have some new pictures of the school to be put on the site - we are planning to redo all the pictures on the site working on the most popular pages first.
Shap School webpage added here
Only the shops that subscribe to the website will have pictures and descriptions so those shops without them have told us that they do not want to be on the website.
That's not very helpful if you are trying to use the website to get to know the area or plan a visit. I think the website should maintain an all-inclusive directory of local shops and businesses.
Unfortunately the website costs money to run which comes mostly from the businesses who advertise with, us the remainder from the Parish Council - without this money the website would shut down.
Also as stated above many businesses have told us that they do not want to be listed on the website (even if it was free) and others have asked us to remove content that was on the site about them.
